The Navegante card is a personal, non-transferable card with contactless technology accepted by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area transport operators.

It is ideal for frequent public transport passengers and allows you to top up each operator's monthly tickets, multimodal tickets and combined tickets.

It can be used in some car and bicycle parks.

Getting a navegante® card is now even easier, as you can buy it online and have it delivered to your home.

Types of card: Normal, Student (Under 18+TP and Under 23+TP), Youth, 3rd Age (Navigator + 65), Retired/Pensioner, Social+, Veteran.

The Navegante App, which allows you to top up passes and consult the contents of the navegante® card, is available from the iOS and Android stores.

Since 1 August 2024, the new navegante® online store has allowed passengers to purchase their navegante® card and request home delivery, so they no longer have to go and collect it.

How does it work?

Easy access: https://loja.navegante.pt/

Choose the card: opt for the usual style or the 5-year anniversary edition.

Simple form: Fill in a short form.

Upload the required documents and a photograph to the personalised card (45mm x 35mm).

Quick payment: pay by MB WAY or credit card.

The card will be delivered to your address within 7 working days.

Topping up the card monthly is simple via the navegante® App, eliminating the need for additional journeys.

General

  • Duly completed Rrequisition fom.
  • Citizen’s card, ID (EU citizens), Passport, Driving Licence (national citizens) or Residence Permit.
  • Recent, original, colour, passport-sized photograph with a plain background, bareheaded, without sunglasses - except in specific, duly substantiated situations. 

Specific Pensioners 

  • Own form showing the household composition duly certified by the local parish council.
  • A separate form showing the household's income, duly certified by the respective tax office (this figure can also be proven by a copy of the income tax declaration or a separate declaration from the tax office). The household's annual income must be equal to or less than the minimum monthly wage multiplied by 14.
  • Original and photocopy of the document proving the value of the retirement or pension issued by the Caixa Geral de Aposentações or Caixa Nacional de Pensões.

Complete the Navegante Família application form and submit the necessary documents for yourself and your household members.
If there are beneficiaries over the age of 18, a Declaration of Representation (save, fill in, and print) must be submitted for each household member.

Submission of the navegante famíly Access Application and other documentation does not imply that the application will be accepted.

It can be done directly in the navegante® App.

The navegante® App now offers a feature that allows you to activate access to the student discount and top up the pass with extended validity, so you no longer need to top up the pass every month.

You can also update your personal details and submit your enrolment declaration via the App.

  • Students and young people under 19

The free pass can only be topped up once up to the age of 19, or until the card's expiry date (the navegante® card is valid for 5 years).

All you have to do is install the navegante® App and click on the 'Extend youth free' button. Once you've done that, make your first, and only, top-up with the title 'navegante® metropolitano free until 19 years old'.

  • Students between the ages of 19 and 23 (inclusive).

If you're over 19, you'll need to show proof of enrolment, but it's now easier to do so via the navegante® app.

Update your details via the navegante® App and all it takes is a first, one-off upload to the App with the title 'navegante® metro free until September', and it's valid for a whole year (until September of the following year).

Data can also be updated by calling 218 206 050.

The Navegante card can be requested at any CP, Carris, Metro, Fertagus and Transtejo sales point (except for the Navegante Jovem, an exclusive CP product).

It can also be requested at Carris Metropolitana's Navegante spaces, Navegante points and the new navegante® online shop, which allows users to purchase the Navegante card and request home delivery. 

Price:

  • cost of the Normal, Youth, Retired/Pensioner and Third Age Card - €7.00;
  • cost of the Young Student Card (Under 18 and Under 23) - €3.50;
  • delivery time: 10 working days.

Navegante has a new product dedicated to corporate mobility that is now evolving with the launch of an exclusive App for companies. This novelty will make life even easier for companies and their employees.

With the new app navegante® Empresas, mobility and sustainability go hand in hand towards a greener future.

The VIVA GO service is an innovative transport payment solution that combines a Navegante card with a post-payment method via a bank account.

To access this service, go to an ATM and link your Navegante card to your bank card. Then, select the VIVA GO option, available in the "transport" menu.

The VIVA GO service can be used on the CP, Carris, Fertagus, Metropolitano de Lisboa, Metro Sul do Tejo, Soflusa, and Trantejo and allows you to pay for journeys as you go. On CP, each journey costs €2.00.

Before boarding, you should always validate your Navigator Card at the stations' equipment (validators or access control ports).

The city of Lisbon aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. To this end, a sustainability promotion measure has been launched with the navegante® card, which grants free parking in car parks.

Which parks are covered?

In the first phase:

  • Colégio Militar car park | 415 places
  • Ameixoeira car park | 489 places
  • Avenida de Pádua car park | 248 places

How to get free access?

When using the card for the first time, the holder of the Navegante® card, previously loaded with a valid pass, must go to the booth in each car park where they want to park to register their card in the system by filling in a form.
You only need to fill in the form once.

How to renew access?

At the beginning of each month, you must renew your right to free access to the Navegante® car park and prove that you have a valid pass for the month in question. To do this, you must go to the booth in each of the car parks where you want to park to validate your monthly top-up.

How can I prove that I have the pass loaded?

The user must download the navegante® App and scan the card, proving they have a valid ticket for that month.

Timetable

Users of the navegante® Card who have a valid navegante® pass can stay free of charge in the referenced car parks seven days a week between 7.30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Outside this period, the standard rate will be charged.

The Navegante card has a 2-year guarantee from the date of issue against electrical faults and manufacturing defects.

You can request a replacement ticket from the Customer Service Offices at Rossio and Cais do Sodré Stations if the following conditions are met:

Faulty cards

  • The ticket has been purchased from CP or an ATM.
  • Present the original of the ticket loading slip.
  • Present a new Navegante card or provide proof of the request for a new card using the delivery slip.

Loss

  • The ticket has been purchased from CP or an ATM.
  • Present the original of the ticket loading slip.
  • Present a new Navegante card or provide proof of the request for a new card using the delivery slip.
