CP named Merit Partner by Vale d’Ouro association

The Chairman of CP, Pedro Moreira, attended the 15th Anniversary Gala of the Vale d'Ouro Association, at the AUDIR - Municipal Auditorium in Peso da Régua, where he received the honorary distinction of Member of Merit in the "Ruby" category given to CP.

"This distinction was awarded for his willingness to collaborate with the association, whenever requested, and for the rejuvenation of interest in the Douro Line in recent years," explained Vale d'Ouro. "Part of the revolution that the Douro has had in terms of rail demand is due to a series of actions that the CP operator has taken since 2019/2020 and which have transformed the experience of travelling on the most beautiful line in the world. The adjustment of timetables, the recovery of the mythical Schindler carriages, the creation of MiraDouro and all the new dynamics created around the region are the first of several measures that CP is taking, which are the result of the work of many people," said the Association's leaders.

On behalf of the work carried out by CP employees, Pedro Moreira said that "it is an honour for the company to receive this award from the Vale d'Ouro Association, for everything it has done for the railway and, in particular, for what it has done for the Douro Line, a line almost a century and a half old that has given a lot and has a lot more to give to the region". "We have a series of common objectives for the Douro Line, in terms of its development, modernisation and expansion," said the president of CP.

Pedro Moreira also stressed that CP exists "to serve the population and the region", and that the work carried out in recent years, "using all means to optimise the commercial offer", has been in this direction. "There's been a huge effort by many people to make this possible," from restoring the rolling stock to approaching local councils and associations. "We have to adapt our services in favour of the region's needs," he defended, giving as examples the reformulations made to the Almond Blossom Route and the Douro Historical Train to make the services more attractive.
