CP provides boarding and disembarking assistance to passengers with specific mobility needs through the Integrated Mobility Service (SIM).
SIM is provided on all trains and at all stations to passengers, unless they use a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
This service requires prior booking and is compulsory for anyone using a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
On the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades services, you must buy a ticket in advance with a seat reservation.
If for any reason it is not possible to provide the boarding or disembarking service, CP will refund the ticket price.
Not all stations have all the accessibility conditions, so you should always find out before you make your journey via the Customer Care Line - (available 24 hours a day, every day of the year) 808 100 746 (price of a local call according to your tariff, with a maximum of €0.07 + VAT for the first minute and €0.0277 + VAT for each subsequent minute on weekdays from 9am to 9pm or €0.0084 + VAT from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., weekends and public holidays, as defined by Anacom).
(1) Intercidades service - allows customers to be transported in a manual wheelchair, provided it can be locked. The portable lifts at the stations will be used for boarding and alighting.
Due to limited access to the seats, it will be necessary, after boarding, to transfer to the train's wheelchair and then to the seat.
Your wheelchair will be kept locked during the journey.
To get the CP / special needs discount, you must have a Multipurpose Certificate, or the Armed Forces Disability Card, or the Judicial Police Disability Card.
Expired Multipurpose Certificates will be accepted if you submit a request for a new medical board.
Multipurpose Certificates issued by private health organisations are accepted in the case of a cancer diagnosis.
All Multipurpose Disability Medical Certificates issued from 1996 onwards are in force.
Certificates issued before 2022 were issued on paper.
Certificates issued after 5 July 2022 are available in digital format (PDF), or via the SNS 24 app (also in PDF).
Other documents are not accepted, such as medical certificates, requests from medical boards (without a pre-existing multipurpose certificate), other documents issued by health organisations, or others.
